Ongoing Scene Study and On Camera classes in NYC are offered September-December every year, with additional Workshop dates to be announced.
Classes concentrate on the key fundamentals of Yale School of Drama technique, with a special focus on physical expression, imagination, and vulnerability. Exercises are introduced in a format that allows students to thoroughly build personal specificity in their work. This development of technique expands the actor’s imagination and releases them into their true vulnerability resulting in undeniable, and original, expression in their work.
In each class, actors will be filmed working with audition material. Through technique, the actor will learn to cultivate authentic, personal, and spontaneous behavior on camera. The class encourages the actor to illuminate the text with bold provocative choices rather than illustrating the mundane, or predictable. Working this way, allows the actor to move past any block, or fear of being “captured” by the camera and enables the actor to truly reveal their private self.
