NEW YORK CLASSES

Our workshops are designed to both stand on their own and to weave in with the classes and technique taught at the studio. The lessons taught in the workshops are immediately implemented and expanded on in classes. Workshops are either taught by Berg Studios teachers, or guest artist teachers invited to host workshops for our students.

NEW YORK CITY CLASSES: Sept-December 2018

We are very excited to be back in New York with 2 ongoing classes! We will be offering an ongoing SCENE STUDY class on Tuesday nights, and an ongoing ON-CAMERA class on Sunday nights. The Scene Study class focuses on releasing the actor into imaginative work, while the On-Camera class translates these techniques for the screen, especially for use in auditions.

Complete details for both classes are below. Tuition for each class is $300/month (four classes, four hours each), or a discounted rate of $550 for both! There are limited spots for both of these classes, and spots can only be guaranteed through payment. Let us know if you intend to partake. And, as always, please pass this email along to fellow actors that may be interested.

My name is Gregory Berger-Sobeck.  I am the film acting teacher for the Yale School of Drama MFA program. The goal of my work is to release the actor’s imagination, create spontaneous behavior, and transfer it into the rigors and restrictions of the camera; allowing actors to make bold imaginative choices when working in film.

In this vein, I have had a tremendous amount of success. In 2016 three of the five Golden Globe Nominated Drama Series featured my students as series regulars.

Below you will find the dates for both the scene study class, and the special on-camera workshop.

To reserve a spot, please respond to this email, and let the office know that you are interested in joining class.  You’ll find all pertinent information below.

Hope to see you this fall.

BERG STUDIOS-NYC (On-Camera Workshop)

Description:

In each class, actors will be filmed working with audition material.  Through technique, the actor will learn to cultivate authentic, personal, and spontaneous behavior on camera.  The class encourages the actor to illuminate the text with bold provocative choices rather than illustrating the mundane, or predictable.  Working this way, allows the actor to move past any block, or fear of being “captured” by the camera and enables the actor to truly reveal their private self.
