ABOUT BERG STUDIOS IN LOS ANGELES
The Berg Studios Training Philosophy
At Berg Studios, we provide conservatory-level actor training rooted in artistry, courage, and craft, nurturing performers for stage and screen.
Our studio is dedicated to cultivating the actor’s skillset through imaginative and behavioral work. Students strive for authenticity and bold originality by building a repeatable technique.
Our Philosophy
At Berg Studios, we believe acting is a rigorous discipline rooted in imagination, behavior, and play. Many actors arrive without a repeatable system of work, relying instead on instinct alone, which can lead to inconsistent results. While there is often a fear that technique will feel limiting, we find the opposite to be true: The structure of technique allows true artistic freedom. By asking, “How do I work on this? What is my system?” the actors gain consistency, confidence, and a foundation that allows for real spontaneity and boldness, whether on camera or performing eight shows a week.
Acting, in our approach, is not about showing a specific emotional result but about pursuing the relationships and needs with clarity, commitment, and imagination. The emotion will surely come, but as a byproduct of the work. By grounding choices within the script—illuminating it rather than illustrating it—actors are freed from cliché, self-consciousness, and result-oriented performance.
Like dancers, musicians, and athletes, who depend on technique and focus on process over outcome, actors benefit from placing their attention on what must be done rather than how they appear doing it. This shift creates consistency and confidence. It reduces self-judgment and opens the door to greater risk-taking, deeper exploration, and genuine play. The work becomes more alive —and more enjoyable. The works become more alive, original, and fun.

Authenticity
We prioritize behavior over result . Actors are trained to respond physically and imaginatively to relationship and need, allowing emotion to arise as an outcome of the work, rather than an result.

Repeatable Craft
Great acting must be reliable. Our training provides a structured process actors can return to again and again, regardless of medium or material

Individual Expression
While the process is shared, the result is personal. We support the development of distinct artistic voices grounded in imaginative technique, not imitation.
