Berg Studios prides itself on producing more series regulars than any other studio in LA.
But becoming a series regular comes with different responsibilities and challenges. Let us help you break into that aspect of the industry with our experience and practical tips.
Join us for a conversation between Berg and Charles Davis and Michael Trevino, facilitated by Adrian LaTourelle. Berg has coached on countless TV and film sets, and Michael and Charles have over 300 series regular episodes between them!
WHAT YOU WILL TAKE AWAY
- Know what casting sees in the first 10 seconds. Series regulars look like they already live in the world of the show. That isn’t charisma; it’s preparation, and you can learn it.
- Understand the path to series regular. Learn how series regular auditions differ from other auditions, and how a recurring role can become a series regular.
- Finally, know what “make it yours” means. Every actor hears it. You’ll learn what casting actually wants and how to deliver it.
- Work from imagination and specificity. Skip the generic “find your objective, use action verbs” advice that makes everyone sound the same.
- Prepare fast without panic. Whether it’s sides the night before or pages that change the same day, you’ll have a process, so time pressure stops being scary.
- Take a note in the room and adjust instantly. When a director says “try it another way,” you’ll be able to, because you started with a real choice.
- Master listening on camera. Half of a series regular’s screen time is reacting. You’ll train on what you hear, not just what you say.
