The Online Foundation Series is the DNA of Berg Studios.
This four-class series is designed to give you a strong foundation in the techniques our instructors studied at Yale and Juilliard—and have continued to develop ever since. This series is a prerequisite for training with Gregory Berger
The four classes of the series are:
Technique: This class provides a fundamental understanding of our approach to the work, introducing familiar acting vocabulary through our distinct perspective on essentials like objectives and actions. Rather than stopping at intellectual understanding, it moves technique into the body, where spontaneous and imaginative behavior lives. Through this process, you’ll be guided toward discovering your own process and developing a technique that is truly your own.

Script Analysis: This class systematically breaks down a play or screenplay to understand the writer’s intent, themes, and structure — moving beyond purely academic analysis to uncover what lives beneath the words. The focus is on illuminating the script rather than merely illustrating it, transforming textual information into compelling, imaginative behavior.

Sense Stress: This session offers a deep exploration of the language of a script, focusing on imagery, understanding, and creativity. Students will experience practical demonstrations of how to mark up their script, developing a personal “road map” through its language. The class also takes a deep dive into the different forms of speech that every actor should be aware of, and brings it all together through group exercises designed to fully engage with the words, sounds, and imagery of the script.
